1 WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE EXERCISE THAT YOU USE MOST FREQUENTLY TO TRAIN YOU CLIENTS, AND WHY?

Yoga! Because of the healing benefits. It’s practical; you don’t need any special equipment, just a little space to move and a mat. Yoga will enhance your workouts as well as feelings of well-being. Yoga helps relieve stress, increases flexibility, helps to sculpt muscles, assists in preventing work out injuries, increases the libido, calms the mind, heals and detoxifies the body. Yoga is not only about the body appearance, it’s also a way to engage the body’s core. It is one of the only forms of exercise where you get to exercise/strengthen the internal systems and organs, helping to prevent illness and injury.

2 HOW DO YOU STAY MOTIVATED THOUGHOUT THE YEAR TO STICK TO YOUR FITNESS ROUTINE?

I stay motivated because my yoga practice has healed and transformed my body, enhanced my mind, and my spirit . It has become my passion. Understanding the health benefits my yoga practice provides is really how I stick to my routine. I suffered from an injury – a pinched nerve in my neck. I was experiencing intense pain and numbness throughout my left arm from this injury and sought help. After many visits to the doctor, with short lived results, I discovered yoga. Through my yoga practice (at Pivotal Fitness by the way) I was experienced relief from my injury and was able to manage the pain, with longer lasting effects then my medical intervention. It was through the yoga routine that I was able to heal my injury. After healing my injury, I came to understand the powerful benefits of a regular yoga practice. This actually is what led me to become a yoga instructor. Now, I am able to share the benefits of yoga with my community an now have that ability to do yoga anywhere and at any time. There is no better motivator then feeling good!

3 WHAT TIP WOULD YOU GIVE TO PEOLE THAT ARE STRUGGLING TO STAY ON TRACK?

I would say remember why you started a fitness routine and a living healthy in the first place (especially if you’re feeling a moment of defeat or uninspired). Take that simple moment and think, why you started, what inspired you, what made you go forward with your fitness goals and healthy living. Fitness and a healthy living is a personal journey that brings an evolution to your mind, body and soul overtime. It doesn’t happen overnight, but the great thing is you can start having feelings of well-being right from the beginning. Always try not to forget what sparked your fire in the first place. Another helpful component is having a sense of community, create a social network, invite a friend to join you. Social media is also inspiring and goes a long way since we are all connected (#yoga, #bikeride #healthyliving ). Tell yourself- No Judgment, No Ego, No Comparison. We are all unique individuals with different bodies and life situations. Last but not least – Just Do It! Sometimes the hardest thing about engaging in a fitness routine and a healthy lifestyle is putting the sneakers on and making the right choices. Once you do that you usually can look back and say “Wow, I feel great I’m so glad I got out and I did it”

4 WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE

Positive Attitude, Endless Possibilities

5 WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO WORK OUT REGULARLY, BUT DON’T KNOW WHERE TO START? WHAT SHOUD BE THE FIRST STEP IN A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE?

Set your intention of what you want and then go get it. Be realistic and don’t go overboard, this will assist you to stay focused and keep on track. You can always modify or adjust your intention as needed. Be specific and know exactly what you want to achieve (more flexibility in my hamstrings). Make it measurable so you know when you succeeded (OMG!! I can touch my toes now). Also think about what action are you going to do to do to stay on track?( yoga, weights, bike rides ) Write your goals down, get a fitness app to record your progress-review-and share your success and triumphs even your hurdles with those who believe in you and your goals. And don’t forget to Breathe!!! it is our life force. We can go for days with out food and water but we can’t go for long without the breath.
