1.) What is your favorite exercise that you use most frequently to train your clients, and why?

I mostly teach in a group setting.  The music I choose has a huge impact on how I perform and how I convey that to my class.  All the music I choose to use, I’m excited about and look forward to teaching and sharing the routines with everyone.  I really try and give you the true “dance” aspect in my class.  I like to incorporate many different styles of dance, from hip-hop to contemporary, Salsa to Merengue.

When it comes to one-on-one training – rowing is my favorite exercise to use because it really is a full-body exercise, if done properly.

2.) How do you stay motivated throughout the year to stick to your fitness routine?

Staying motivated isn’t always the easiest thing to accomplish.  What I do to stay motivated throughout the year is keeping my fitness routine fun and easy!  Of course that comes easy for me when I’m teaching because dancing and working out is always fun for me!  But I’ve also tried reaching out and seeing what else is out there.  I’ve tried different classes that I normally wouldn’t.  Whether it’s a class you’ve never taken or gym or center you’ve never been to – varying your routine helps keep you on your toes and make it more enjoyable.  I’m more likely to stick with something if I’m having fun!

3.) What tip would you give to people that are struggling to stay on track?

Whether you’re trying to lose weight or just increase your overall fitness ability, it’s not about the numbers, but concentrate more on how you feel.  Sometimes the reinforcement of remembering how good it felt to eat right or the workout you just did, should increase your motivation to do more.

4.) What is your favorite inspirational quote or mantra?

“You are confined only by the walls you build yourself.”
